Chemical Biology

Overview

Chemical biology is an area that employs chemical tools in understanding the biological processes. Moreover, small molecular compounds have proven to be useful tools to understand the function at the molecular, cellular and organism level. During the XI-FYP, The Center for Chemical Biology with state of the art facility has been established with an objective to optimally utilize the synthetic chemistry efforts of the institute by bridging biological screening of small molecules; and to understand their mode of action. Discovering lead molecules opens up new opportunities for the development of efficient targeted therapies for the treatment of diseases at affordable cost. The current scientific strength of Chemical Biology includes scientists having expertise in biochemistry, molecular, cellular and structural biology.
