Dr. Shasi Vardhan Kalivendi obtained his Masters in Biochemistry from the University
of Hyderabad and his Doctoral degree from the Department of Biochemistry,
University, Hyderabad for understanding the mechanisms mediating neurolathyrism.
He worked as a Research Scientist at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee,
in understanding the cell signaling mechanisms mediating neurodegeneration,
cardiomyopathy and cancer. His outstanding
contributions were recognized by the award of certificate ofappreciation
from the Medical College of Wisconsin, USA.
Dr. Kalivendi returned to India to
join IICT in the Department of Chemical Biology, and currently he is Scientist
E1. His research interests are to
develop a diagnostic marker and a therapeutic strategy for human neurodegenerative
diseases as well as cancer. He published 18 research articles, 4 reviews and an
editorial in international journals. He was recently awarded with the Ramanujan Fellowship by the Department of Science and Technology,
India.
