X-ray Crystallographic studies of organic compounds - Biological structure activity and correlation - Ligand - metal interactions for selective binding at active sites - Supramolecular assembly towards molecular recognition.Polymorphs identification and characterization of pharmaceutical compounds X-ray Diffraction .
Research experience in India and abroad
1990 –till date : Scientist In-Charge IICT. Hyderabad, India : Established a modern Laboratory of X-ray Crystallography at IICT. Responsible for the center to carry out crystallization, data collection, structure elucidation and geometrical analysis of small and medium sized molecules. Introduced ISO 9002 Quality system management towards methods - development and validation of procedures. Participated in several Pharmaceutical projects, for Stereo-chemical structural elucidation, sponsored by Indian and foreign Industries. Also, involved in various drug discovery and process developments programs in the institute by establishing the correct conformational chemical structural features. Effective use of Powder X-ray diffraction for characterization of Inorganic materials and polymorphism on Pharmaceutical products for US - FDA and patent regulations .
1986 - 1990: Post doctoral research fellow , Renesselaer Polytechnic Institute USA; Crystallized a medium sized Poly Peptide Gramcidine A with DPPC, DMPC and Metal ions. Data collection using Area detector, Structure determinations using Single Wavelength Anomalous Scattering, Molecular Modeling using FRODO and refinement Using PROLSQ and Xtal. (appeared as a cover article in July 1988 issue of Science magazine ).
1981-1986: Research Fellow, Department of Crystallography & Biophysics, University of Madras: - X-ray Crystallographic studies on Natural Products and Amino acids - metal complexes - leading towards Ph.D Degree.

Great interest in teaching. Gave courses at undergraduate and graduate level on Solid State Physics, X-ray Crystallography, Computer Programming towards crystal structure analysis and Powder Diffraction at Presidency College Madras, Department of Crystallography & Biophysics, University of Madras, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, Physics Department Osmania University, Regional Engineering College, Warangal, and Renesselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York, USA,.
