History and Overview
Instrumentation Division which has been conceived and established as one of the groups right from the inception of CLSIR (Central Laboratories under the princely state of Hyderabad) and subsequently R.R.L. Instrumentation Division was headed by Shri P.S. Kolhatkar came into prominence in 1961 with the support of the then Director and later D.G. CSIR late Dr. Hussain Zaheer.
The division was established to install & maintain the state of the art research grade sophisticated analytical instruments. Later on the Division has expanded its activities to enable to deliver complete Process Instrumentation & Automation solutions for R & D projects, from design/retrofit, inspection, installation to commissioning and maintenance.
Instrumentation Division associates with multi disciplinary teams from Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering groups to deliver complete Industrial Instrumentation engineering & automation solutions to various R&D projects to industries in the country since for over 30 years. Our integrated services allow CSIR – IICT to manage every aspect of a complex process instrumentation work scope or project, planning, design and engineering, procurement, testing, installation and commissioning.
Reaction Engineering pilot plant came into existence in 1997 under the leadership of Dr. K.V. Raghavan, the then director of CSIR – IICT, to establish multipurpose automated reactor systems under one roof catering to the needs of various departments for carrying out the process development activity and generate engineering data for scale up, in the process of transferring the Institute’s innovations to the industries. Also the Division is providing expertise to industrial clients for concept proving towards commercialization.
The division has been associated in projects right from bench scale, pilot plants & commercial plants of various processes & technologies that were transferred by CSIR-IICT to industries. The division is also associated with PROSAC (Process Safety Centre) for carrying out HAZOP study and Safety Audit for various process industries.
