Nanomaterials Laboratory

The mission of Nanomaterials Laboratory at CSIR-IICT is to conduct basic and applied research concurrently to improve understanding of fundamental material properties; help develop advanced materials; processes to enable energy-efficiency, cost-competitiveness and environmentally benign materials for technologies to fulfil a range of national priorities.

In-line with CSIR's vision and mandate, the thrust of research is to design and develop materials for application in sustainable energy, affordable healthcare and environmental remediation. This includes appropriate strategies to synthesize nanostructured materials with various compositions, morphologies and functionalities for desired end-use. The major ongoing activities under national and international research initiatives are:

  • Excitonic solar cells (Projects: CSIR-MNRE Solar Mission-TAPSUN (DyeCell); Indo-UK, APEX Program and Indo-Euro Consortium, ESCORT)
  • Electrolytes for Li-ion Batteries (Project: CSIR-TAPSUN StoreSolar),
  • Functional Materials (Projects: IntelCOAT, M2D and NanoSHE)
